On the edge of the Ardennes Forest, the imposing silhouette of Sedan Castle dominates the surrounding town and countryside. It has been the largest fortress in Europe for centuries. Now you can follow in the footsteps of the many famous historical figures who have lived and visited here.

Spanning 35,000 square meters over seven floors, with walls averaging 7 meters thick, and built to house a garrison of 4,000, Sedan Castle is an architectural marvel. Its strategic location on a rocky outcrop within a bend of the River Meuse dates back to the 11th century, when it was home to an abbey. In 1424, Evrard II de la Marck, Lord of Sedan, transformed it into the formidable stronghold that still stands today.

The 27th Sedan Medieval Festival invites you to step into a world of knights, minstrels, and medieval magic! Experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of the Middle Ages in a lively, immersive atmosphere.
This Year’s Theme is Fire & Pyrotechnics! Prepare for spectacular fire shows that will light up the night! The festival will be packed with thrilling performances, medieval music, reenactment camps, artisan markets, and more.
