Bad Bertrich: A Journey Through History and Relaxation
Nestled between the Moselle River and the volcanic landscapes of the Vulkaneifel, the charming health resort of Bad Bertrich has been a sanctuary of well-being for nearly 2,000 years. The Romans were the first to discover its natural thermal spring, and to this day, warm, mineral-rich healing water continues to flow from the depths of the earth. Bad Bertrich is home to Germany’s only Glauber’s salt thermal spring, emerging from two kilometers underground at a soothing temperature of 32°C. Around this unique gift of nature, a wealth of wellness and health-focused experiences have been developed—including the opportunity to drink the thermal water for its beneficial effects.
Our Excursion: Hike & Relaxation
We’ll begin our adventure with a scenic 4-mile hike, exploring the rich history and breathtaking landscapes of the region.
Entersburg: Once a medieval stronghold built by two brothers during the age of knights, all that remains today is its spectacular location.
Legends of the Üssbach Valley: In the 18th century, dense forests and deep valleys in this area became a hideout for bandits.
Roman Influence: It was the Romans who transformed this place into a sought-after health resort, laying the foundation for Bad Bertrich’s spa tradition.
Steffenswarte: A steep climb will take us up to Entersburg, where the Steffenswarte tower, built in the 19th century, offers stunning panoramic views.
After the hike, we’ll unwind at the Vulkaneifel Thermal Spa. Here, you can enjoy a well-earned lunch at the restaurant, soak in the warm, healing waters, or indulge in one of the many saunas.
