Family Child Care Providers undergo stringent certification requirements: 15 AF FCC Training modules (approximately 60 clock hours), monthly unannounced home visits, background investigations, annual training, and certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for children 2 weeks to 12 years old.

Expanded Duty Child Care Program

Best for: Families working extended hours beyond standard care

• Covers care outside normal Child Development Center (CDC) hours
• Available when already enrolled in full-time care
• No cost to parents
• Must be arranged through the FCC Coordinator before use

24/7 Child Care Program

Best for: Shift workers, overnight, weekend, or holiday duty

• Designed for non-traditional work schedules
• Supports careers like:
  • Security Forces
  • Medical
  • Fire Department
  • Command Post
  • ISR / DCGS
• Complements existing full-time care

Respite Child Care Program

The Respite Child Care program is designed to assist Air Force families with specialized child care to help reduce the stresses associated with caring for an exceptional family member. Sibling care is also available up to age 13 years.

FCC Subsidy Program

Spangdahlem Air Base participates in the AF Subsidy Program assisting parents with costs beyond what they would normally pay if their child were cared for at the Child Development Center. Please make sure that your child is on the militarychildcare.com waitlist for the CDC or FCC.

• Must be used within 60 days prior to deployment

• Up to 16 hours of free child care per child, per month
• Available throughout the duration of the deployment

Post-Deployment (Returning Home) Care

Support during reintegration

• Up to 16 hours of free child care per child
• Must be used within 60 days following return

PCS (Permanent Change of Station) Care

Support during transitions

• Up to 20 hours of free child care per child
• Available:
  • Within 60 days before departing your current duty station
  • Within 60 days after arriving at your new duty station
