The oldest Christmas market in Germany, founded in 1434, is a must-see.
The name of the Christmas market comes from perhaps the most traditional Christmas baked goods,
the delicious Striezel (outside Dresden better known as Stollen).
Ten thematically different markets stretch from the old town to the other side of the Elbe. Be sure to
visit the medieval Christmas market Stallhof, which belongs to the residential palace and is not far
away from the Altmarkt and the Frauenkirche.

A real insider tip:
In front of an impressive backdrop, craftsmen offer historical items in an old-fashioned way. Another
highlight is the Christmas market at the Augustusmarkt where international products are sold like
Danish Glögg or chocolates from Belgium.

The next day the bus will take you to the city of Meissen where you will visit the famous porcelain
factory with an extensive exhibition. Afterward it’s worth taking a stroll through the picturesque old
town with its winding streets, lovingly restored town houses, cozy wine bars, magnificent town hall
and hike up the castle hill with the Albrechtsburg and the cathedral. Also the Christmas market in
Meißen invites you to linger.
